New Horizons

The project brief is to design a Montessori school in small town in Hexham, Tyne and Wear, which aspires to be the Northern beacon for Montessori education. The capriccio was an imaginative exercise carried out at the start of the project which was an artistic response to my first impressions to the brief. My exploration reflects the principles of the Montessori Pedagogy in terms of the methodical sequence of constructing an origami crane. In Montessori education the children learn through clear logical sequence and repetition, which my capriccio depicts in its step by step instructions. I intend to incorporate these ideas of sequence, repetition and transformation into my design for the Montessori School.
